Reflections on Peace, Philosophy, and Life
If I have any readers, they will probably have worked out that essentially I am only interested in one thing: living my life to become a better human being.
I've written elsewhere what the characteristics of a human being are and that it is the positive side that I am trying to manifest, such as kindness, clarity in my decisions, love and joy. It's not easy - it demands constant work to be conscious of what I am and what I'm doing. One of the key elements is acceptance. But what exactly should I try to accept? And why?

Blame I realised a long time ago that blame doesn't work - the problem remains, however much I may blame someone else or God or Fate. So I've learnt to take responsibility. It makes life so much simpler.

Over 100 years ago, Swami Vivekananda was travelling in the West and trying to pass on his Understanding of the spiritual world. Among the many talks he gave is this one, It is the most perfect description of the kind of love I have been searching for all my life. I feel much of what he describes and I put in my effort every day to achive this. Can I achieve that? I don't know and mostly I don't care - I am just so grateful for the opportunity to move towards this goal. Perhaps you'll find this inspiring too.

I'm often amazed at the amount of effort we put in to avoid doing anything. It seems to be increasing too! What am I talking about? Prem Rawat recently described technology as "finding new ways to do old things", and I like that. It seems to me that the inventiveness of human beings is always aimed at the same thing: how to do the least amount possible.

So what went wrong? What happened to us that we stopped taking care of each other and our environment? These questions have made me think about our educational systems. Clearly, humans are not being educated to value and look after each other or our planet. So can we change that? What's needed?
